About Trashy Treasures
Welcome. This shop is built on a simple truth: nothing is ever truly trash, and nothing is ever truly finished.
The Art of the Comeback
Having known what it feels like to be undervalued and left to start from nothing, I learned that the things and the people the world counts out often hold the greatest potential.
It's the same fighting spirit you see in places like Matlacha and New Orleans after a hurricane. The storm hits, but instead of walking away, the community rolls up their sleeves and rebuilds something even more vibrant from the wreckage.
That is the heartbeat of Trashy Treasures. We take the pieces that have been battered, discarded, and overlooked, and we transform them into something beautiful and highly desirable.
When you buy from this collection, you're holding proof that renewal is always possible. No matter the storm, you can always rebuild, rebrand, and bloom on your own terms.
Meet Our Mascot: The Trash Bandit
Every great treasure hunt needs a fearless sidekick. Ours is the Trash Bandit, a coffee-fueled raccoon who embodies everything we love: scrappy, resourceful, a little chaotic, and completely one-of-a-kind. Designed by our own team, the Trash Bandit shows up on our signage, stickers, and merch. Keep an eye out for him around the shop.
Jasper, the shop dog
Trashy Treasures is a woman-owned, disabled veteran-owned small business run by a passionate crew of creators who believe art belongs everywhere, especially in places it wasn't expected. We're proud to call Matlacha home, and so is Jasper, our family dog and the shop's unofficial greeter.
Why Matlacha?
Matlacha isn't just our address: it's our inspiration. This tiny stretch of Florida is famous for its rainbow-painted buildings, working fishing docks, local galleries, and a community that's always celebrated the unconventional. It's the perfect home for a shop that turns trash into treasure.
